Stephanie Taylor (she/her) has forged a successful career across the last fifteen years as a contemporary commercial music voice teacher and lecturer. She has become a prominent figure in the Brisbane and Australian singing community. Her vivacious energy paired with her dedication and love of music, vocal pedagogy, vocal health and working with people enables her student’s to find their optimal and best singing voice.
Stephanie focuses on CCM styles and functional technique work grounded in pedagogical findings from continued reading and research. She stays firmly connected with the voice teaching community both nationally and internationally. The technical agility work which is focussed on in lessons allows Stephanie’s students to express their stories, musicality and versatility in a free and authentic manner when performing and improvising.
Stephanie is currently the Co-ordinator of the contemporary and jazz voice area at Open Conservatorium, Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. She has been a specialist voice teacher within the Young Conservatorium department since 2012 and takes pride in the work that her colleagues and students have achieved. In addition to her role at the Queensland Conservatorium, Stephanie is currently a voice teacher, musical vocal director and choir director at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School. She teaches a full workload of student lessons and rehearsals on a weekly basis. Steph feels very fortunate to work with dedicated and driven students. In addition to her teaching roles at both Griffith University and St Margaret's, she runs a very successful studio business, Stephanie Taylor Singing, in Teneriffe.
Stephanie is a current member of ANATS (Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing,) AVA (Australian Voice Association) and ASPAH (Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare.) She has previously been a Queensland Chapter committee member of ANATS (2018 to 2020.)
Stephanie is currently studying virtually with Grammy© nominated jazz vocalist Sara Gazerek. In 2023 Stephanie has attended numerous professional development conferences facilitated by Jeanette LoVetri, ANATS, Kenneth Bozeman, VocalLab, ANCA and will review Dane Chalfin and Kim Chandler's work through a live, virtual conference in October.
Across 2020 to 2022 Stephanie attended virtual conferences and workshops led by the Jeanette LoVetri, UK based voice pedagogue Dance Chalfin and choir specialist Mark DeLisser. She also had follow up lessons with Theo Bleckmann after her visit to New York in 2018. Stephanie attended in-person conferences hosted by ANATS and was a guest masterclass teacher for their Fly On The Wall conference held in early 2021. Stephanie has completed professional development by taking voice lessons with Dale Cox since 2013 and continued to have these sessions until Dale took a university position overseas in 2021.
In 2019, Stephanie undertook a position as an undergraduate lecturer in contemporary voice and pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland, under the guidance of Dr. Melissa Forbes. Additionally, 2019 saw a busy year of professional development, having completed the Somatic Voicework™ coursework for the second time at The LoVetri Institute of Somatic Voicework™ at University of Southern Queensland after having visited the United States only seven months prior. This course together with follow up private voice lessons from Jeanette LoVetri (N.Y,) Brenda Earl Stokes (N.Y) and Davin Youngs (Chicago) made 2019 a special year of continued training and study for Stephanie.
In July 2018, Stephanie travelled to the United States to study at The LoVetri Institute of Somatic Voicework™, Baldwin Wallace Univeristy, Ohio, USA. She studied with esteemed voice pedagogue Ms Jeanette LoVetri, together with a dignified faculty of laryngologists, music directors, speech pathologists and voice educators and completed all three levels of the Somatic Voicework™ course while at Baldwin Wallace University. In addition to this Summer course, Stephanie travelled to New York to learn from Grammy Award nominated jazz and new music vocalist and educator Theo Bleckmann and New York based voice teacher and jazz vocalist, Ms Brenda Earl Stokes.

In 2015, Stephanie travelled to New York and studied under esteemed voice teacher and researcher, Ms Joan Melton (NYU) together with Tony Award winning actress and vocalist, Ms Lindsey Mendez and Tony and Grammy nominated actress and vocalist, Liz Callaway. She also attended workshops at the New York Jazz Workshop. Stephanie performed in a musical theatre masterclass with Ms Anne Peckham, Chair of Voice at Berklee College of Music in 2013.
Between 2012 and 2014, Stephanie was an associate researcher and research assistant under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Irene Bartlett at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.

Stephanie holds a Masters of Music Studies (Advanced Performance/Pedagogy), Graduate Diploma of Music Studies (Vocal Pedagogy) and a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Voice) from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Stephanie has completed in Levels I, II and III of Somatic Voicework: The LoVetri™ Method from Baldwin Wallace University, Ohio, USA.
Stephanie holds a current Queensland Blue Card to work with children and young people.
